The Glock 36 is Glock’s answer to shooters who want the authoritative power of a .45 ACP round without the bulk often associated with full-size frames. Introduced as part of Glock’s Slimline series, the G36 features a single-stack magazine and is purpose-built for concealment and personal defense.
Caliber: .45 ACP
Capacity: 6+1
Barrel Length: 3.78 inches
Overall Length: 6.97 inches
Width: 1.10 inches
Weight (loaded): 27 oz
This pistol is noticeably slimmer than other .45 ACP Glocks like the G30 or G21, making it ideal for IWB (inside the waistband) carry.
The Glock 36 utilizes the Gen3-style frame with Glock’s traditional polymer build. Despite its smaller size, it retains excellent grip ergonomics, aided by finger grooves and a non-aggressive stipple. The single-stack magazine forces a narrower grip profile, making it accessible to shooters with smaller hands—an important distinction from the thicker G30.
Being a lightweight .45 ACP pistol, the G36 does have more felt recoil than 9mm or even .40 S&W Glocks. However, due to Glock’s low bore axis and solid recoil spring design, it’s very manageable. Recoil recovery is fast, and shot-to-shot accuracy remains reliable within self-defense ranges.
This is where the G36 shines. Its slim profile makes it one of the most concealable .45 ACP pistols on the market. It's easy to wear all day, even under lighter clothing, without printing. The only trade-off is its limited 6+1 capacity, which some may find too low for modern EDC standards.
Concealed carry
Home defense (as a backup to a larger primary firearm)
Civilian or off-duty law enforcement EDC
Being a Gen3 frame without a rail, the G36 lacks compatibility with under-barrel lights or lasers. However, aftermarket upgrades like night sights, extended slide releases, and grip enhancements are widely available.
